Many Muslim traders in Indonesia want to trade forex without going against their faith. The trouble with a normal account is the swap. A swap is a small interest charge, or credit, you get for keeping a trade open overnight. Interest is riba, and riba is not allowed in Islam.

An Islamic account, also called a swap-free account, takes that overnight interest away, so you can hold a trade for days without paying or earning interest.

Below, we picked five brokers with strong swap-free accounts that welcome Indonesian traders. For each one, you get how the swap-free part works, any holding fee, the platforms, and the smallest amount to start. We keep it honest, including where each broker stands with BAPPEBTI.

What is a Swap-Free Account?

A swap is the small interest a broker charges or pays when you keep a trade open past the daily cut-off time. Islam does not allow interest, so a swap-free account removes that charge. You can hold a trade overnight, or for weeks, with no interest changing hands.

Here is the part to watch. To make up for the lost swap, some brokers add a flat holding fee, often called an admin fee, after a few free days. This fee is a set amount, not interest, so it can still be fine under Sharia, but it is a real cost.

Other brokers charge nothing at all. So the real question is not only “is it swap-free,” but “what replaces the swap, and after how long.”

TopAsiaFX Tip: Before you open an account, ask support three short things: is there a holding fee, how many free days do I get, and which products stay swap-free. The answers show you the true cost of holding a trade.

Top 5 Swap-Free Brokers for Indonesian Traders

1. Exness

Exness is one of the most-used global brokers in Indonesia, and its swap-free setup is one of the easiest. If you sign up from Indonesia, your account is made swap-free on its own, with no forms and no need to prove your faith.

The swap-free status covers all its account types and a wide set of markets, from forex and metals to indices and crypto, with no extra fee or wider prices on top. Exness started in 2008 and holds licenses from the FCA, CySEC, FSCA, and the FSA in Seychelles.

Indonesians trade under its Seychelles arm, so it is not BAPPEBTI-licensed. You can use MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, or the Exness app, start from about $10, and pay in rupiah through local banks.

2. FP Markets

FP Markets is a good fit if you like to know your costs up front. It is among the few brokers that print their holding fees right on its website, so there are no surprises. Its swap-free account gives you a 5-day free window, and after that a fixed holding fee applies.

The broker even covers the extra triple charge that lands on some days. FP Markets has run since 2005 and is licensed by ASIC, CySEC, and the FSCA, though it carries no BAPPEBTI license.

You get MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and cTrader, with about 100 markets open to swap-free trading (shares are not included), and you can start from around $100. You may be asked to show proof of your faith to switch it on.

3. JustMarkets

JustMarkets stands out for two reasons: a tiny $10 start, and for traders outside the EU, like those in Indonesia, no swap fee and no holding fee at all on its Islamic accounts. You can turn on swap-free for the Standard Cent, Standard, Pro, or Raw Spread account by asking support.

JustMarkets began in 2012, is based in Cyprus, and is licensed by CySEC plus offshore arms, and BAPPEBTI does not regulate it. You trade on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 across 250 or more markets, and the cent account lets you practise with very small trade sizes.

4. AvaTrade

AvaTrade is among the friendliest brokers here for someone just starting out, and it has won awards for its lessons. Its swap-free account is free of overnight interest, with a 5-day grace window before a holding fee starts on longer trades.

It covers forex, metals, indices, and crypto. AvaTrade began in 2006 and is licensed by the Central Bank of Ireland, ASIC, the FSCA, and CySEC, among others, but it holds no BAPPEBTI license.

There is one simple account with no commission, a $100 start, and a choice of the AvaTradeGO app, WebTrader, MetaTrader 4, and MetaTrader 5, plus a free practice account.

It offers Islamic, swap-free trading on its Classic and ECN account levels, with no interest charged on overnight trades. It is run by a Cyprus-regulated firm (CySEC) with offshore arms, and it is watched abroad rather than by BAPPEBTI. You trade on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 across forex, metals, indices, and crypto, and the smallest start for an Islamic account is about $50.

One Honest Point About Halal Trading

Taking away the swap is the first step, but it does not settle every question on its own. Scholars do not fully agree on whether forex and CFD trading is halal, because of worries about borrowed money, risk, and how real the buying and selling is.

A swap-free account fixes the riba (interest) problem, but the rest depends on how you trade and whose ruling you follow. In Indonesia, the DSN-MUI has given guidance on currency trading (al-sharf).

The Honest View from TopAsiaFX: use a swap-free account, trade in a calm and planned way rather than like gambling, and if you are unsure, ask a scholar you trust.

Want a Local BAPPEBTI Broker with an Islamic Account?

If you also want your money held inside Indonesia, several local BAPPEBTI brokers offer swap-free Islamic accounts too, including Finex, HSB Investasi, Monex (MIFX), and HFX.

They take rupiah, keep your funds in a separate local account, and give you a place to complain at home. The trade-off is usually fewer markets and different costs than the global brokers above. TopAsiaFX has a separate guide on these local names.

What to Check Before You Open One?

Read the swap-free terms, not just the headline. Look for the holding fee, if any, how many free days you get, and which products stay swap-free. Make sure your main pairs are covered.

Check whether you need to send proof of faith. And test the broker with a small deposit first, so you can try deposits, payouts, and support before you trust it with more.

A Few Honest Words About Risk

Forex is risky, and a swap-free account does not change that. Most people who trade lose money. Practise on a free demo first, only use money you can afford to lose, set a stop on every trade (a limit that closes a losing trade for you), and keep your first real trades small.

Where to Start?

Exness or LiteFinance if you want a swap-free setup for you, JustMarkets if you want the lowest start with no extra fee, FP Markets if you want clear printed fees, or AvaTrade if you are brand new.

Check the swap-free terms, put in a small amount to test, and grow from there. TopAsiaFX keeps this list up to date as broker rules change.

FAQs

What is an Islamic forex account?

An account with no overnight interest (swap), so it follows the Islamic rule against riba. You can hold a trade overnight without paying or earning interest.

Do I have to be Muslim to use one?

Not always. Some brokers, like Exness and LiteFinance, turn it on for Indonesian traders by default. Others, like FP Markets, may ask for proof of faith.

Are swap-free accounts really free?

Not always. Many brokers add a fixed holding fee after a few free days. Some, like JustMarkets for non-EU traders, charge nothing extra. Always read the terms.

Is forex trading halal?

Removing the swap deals with the interest problem. Whether the rest is halal depends on how you trade and the ruling you follow. If you are unsure, ask a trusted scholar.

Which broker is best for new traders?

AvaTrade and Exness are the easiest to start with, thanks to simple accounts and a low entry amount.
