Hello! Welcome to TopAsiaFX. I am Agent Merina, your dedicated support assistant. How can I help you today?

OANDA does not run one single account structure worldwide. The broker operates through separate regulated entities in different countries, and each one publishes its own account comparison page with its own tiers, rebates, and qualifying volumes.

That makes a single global answer to how many account types OANDA offers impossible. At TopAsiaFX, we went through OANDA's own comparison pages for the United States, Canada, the British Virgin Islands, and Australia to lay out what each region actually offers, rather than repeating a generic summary that only fits one market.

For the wider review on OANDA as a broker, our full OANDA broker review covers platforms, pricing, and regulation across its main markets.

Why the Account Structure Changes by Region?

OANDA's account setup follows whichever regulator oversees your entity. In the United States, OANDA Corporation is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and is a member of the National Futures Association.

In Canada, OANDA Canada Corporation ULC is regulated by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization, with client accounts covered by the Canadian Investor Protection Fund within specified limits.

Clients signing up through the British Virgin Islands entity, OANDA Global Markets, fall under the BVI Financial Services Commission, while OANDA Australia Pty Ltd answers to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

Each regulator sets different rules around leverage, client fund handling, and account structure, which is why the tiers and features below vary so much from one region to the next.

For a closer look at how OANDA's regulatory standing holds up generally, see our article on OANDA's trustworthiness.

OANDA in the United States

Standard Account

OANDA's US entity offers two account types rather than a long list of tiers. The Standard account gives access to 68 forex pairs, OANDA's own web and mobile platforms, TradingView, and MetaTrader 4, along with 24-hour support during market hours and variable contract sizes down to a single unit.

Core spread plus commission pricing is available once your balance reaches USD 10,000, alongside the standard spread-only pricing option.

Elite Trader Loyalty Program

Traders who push at least 10 million dollars in monthly volume can qualify for OANDA's Elite Trader program. This tier adds a rebate starting from $5 per million traded, a dedicated relationship manager, reimbursement on a monthly TradingView subscription, unlimited free wire transfers, priority service queues, and an open order indicator that refreshes every five minutes instead of the twenty-minute refresh on Standard accounts.

OANDA in Canada

Regular Account

OANDA Canada's Regular account covers the core trading experience: order book access, MT4 order book indicator, position tracking, and updates on open orders every 20 minutes, with negative balance protection applied to every account regardless of tier.

Elite Trader Program Tiers

Canada's Elite Trader program is structured across five volume tiers rather than a single threshold. Tier 1 starts at 10 to 49 million dollars in monthly trading volume with a rebate of 5 Canadian dollars per million traded, scaling up through Tier 2 at 7 CAD, Tier 3 at 10 CAD, Tier 4 at 15 CAD, and Tier 5 at 17 CAD per million once volume passes the one billion dollar mark.

Every Elite tier from Tier 1 upward includes a dedicated relationship manager, a priority service line, free VPS hosting, no-fee deposits and withdrawals, API support, and discounted access to select third-party platforms, with one-on-one access to a market analyst added from Tier 3 onward.

Since deposit and withdrawal costs come up often for traders comparing brokers, our piece on OANDA's withdrawal speed is worth reading alongside this if processing time matters to your decision.

OANDA in the British Virgin Islands

Clients signing up through OANDA Global Markets in the BVI see a three tier structure: Standard, Premium, and Premium Plus. None of the three carry a commission charge, and full account verification is not required for gross deposits below USD 9,000 on any tier.

Standard

Spreads start from 0.6 on ten major instruments, with no volume-based rebate and no minimum deposit or trading volume requirement to qualify. This tier is open to all clients and includes MT5 premium tools, Signal Centre by Acuity, AutoChartist technical analysis, and 24/5 customer service.

Premium

Spreads start from 0.7, with a rebate of USD 4 per million traded once monthly volume reaches at least USD 20 million. Qualifying for Premium requires either a USD 10,000 deposit or USD 10 million in monthly notional volume, maintained above USD 30 million per calendar quarter.

Premium clients get a dedicated relationship manager, zero deposit fees, funding fee reimbursement up to USD 40 per transaction, free withdrawals, third-party research access, invitations to exclusive events, and a free VPN.

Premium Plus

This is OANDA's tightest BVI pricing tier, with spreads starting from 0.1 and a rebate of USD 6 per million once monthly volume passes USD 50 million, maintained above USD 200 million per quarter.

Premium Plus includes everything in Premium plus full funding fee reimbursement rather than a capped amount, a further spread discount, VPN and VPS access, and seasonal gifts.

Since fee reimbursement and free withdrawals are a meaningful part of what separates these tiers, it is worth checking our breakdown on how OANDA actually protects client funds before assuming every regional entity handles this identically.

OANDA in Australia

OANDA Australia runs the most layered structure of the four regions covered here, splitting retail accounts into Standard and Raw, then adding Premium and Professional tiers on top.

Standard and Raw

Standard pricing carries no commission, with spreads from 0.3 on indices CFDs and 0.6 on major forex pairs. Raw pricing drops spreads to as low as 0.0 on major forex pairs in exchange for a commission of A$3.50 per lot traded.

Both carry the standard retail leverage cap of 30:1, with neither requiring a minimum deposit or trading volume.

Premium Spreads and Premium Commission

Stepping up to either Premium tier requires a first deposit of AUD 10,000 or trading volume above USD 30 million within three months. Premium Spreads tightens pricing further without a commission, while Premium Commission brings the cost per lot down to A$2.75 with correspondingly lower spreads.

Both Premium tiers add a dedicated relationship manager, subsidised trading tool subscriptions, and invitations to exclusive events.

Professional and Professional Plus

These tiers are reserved for clients who meet Australia's wholesale or professional client criteria, and they come with meaningfully higher leverage, up to 200:1 on selected forex and indices CFDs for Professional accounts and up to 300:1 for Professional Plus, alongside discounted financing, volume-based rebates, and a hedging account option.

OANDA Australia also lists a professional welcome bonus of up to A$10,000 and a refer-a-professional bonus up to A$1,000 tied to these tiers.

If a premium or professional-style account bonus is part of what you are weighing up, our page on OANDA's Premium Trader account bonus is worth a look before you apply.

Picking the Right Tier for Your Trading Volume

Across every region, the pattern is consistent even though the numbers differ. Entry-level accounts ask for little or nothing to get started and give you full market access.

Higher tiers reward genuine trading volume, generally somewhere between 10 and 50 million dollars a month depending on the region, with tighter spreads, rebates, and dedicated support.

There is little reason to chase a premium tier before your trading activity naturally qualifies you for one, since the entry-level account already gives you the same instruments and platforms.

A Closing Note from TopAsiaFX

OANDA's account structure rewards scale, and the details genuinely differ enough by region that a one-size answer would have done readers a disservice. Whichever entity you sign up with, the entry-level account gives you full access to OANDA's instruments and platforms, with the premium and elite tiers layered on top once your trading volume earns them.
